Time to Get Ready!!

2015-16 MTMS Kits are Available for Order

You’ve been asking now for 3 months, and the Kit Store is ready for your business. Maybe you missed your chance to order the kit last year. Maybe you will be new to the Summit in 2016 and want to look your best. Or maybe you just need a second Summit jersey to show off back home.

These kits look great and will definitely make you faster.  After the store closes this year, you will never be able to get one of these jerseys again. Don’t miss your chance to look great and ride great in one of these.  Store is open until March 1.

Tell others in your club about the Store.  We have to meet a minimum number of each item before Verge will pull the trigger – not enough orders of that item, too bad.

Summit Registration is Open!

It’s time to register for the Summit, too. Click on the link on the right to secure your place at the 2016 Major Taylor Mountains Summit. 3 days of riding (Thur-Sat) for $50. Where else are you going to find a deal like that?  Plus, we’ll thrown in the MTMS Warm-up ride on Wednesday evening and a Sunday morning 20 mile jaunt for free!

Your fee will go to provide some on-road nutrition and hydration, to fund the Thursday night party (organized by Chicago and Baltimore), event fees paid to the City of Asheville and the National Park Service, an MTMS water bottle (for the first 100), an emergency SAG driver(s), and a few surprises still to come.

Hotels, Hotels, Hotels

Last year the MTMS sold out the Downtown Asheville Inn. Don’t wait too long to secure your room. The DTAI is solid, budget lodging – as close as you can get to all of the fun stuff in downtown.   It’s your most economical choice, and the official hotel for the MTMS.

If you want more upscale digs for the Summit, check out our Lodging Page to see what is available. There are a half dozen moderate and luxury hotels in downtown. And if you want even cheaper lodging, you can head out to the sprawl on Tunnel Road and choose any of a dozen basic motels.

Routes

The organizing committee is about done designing the routes for 2016. Look for future blogs with updates, maps, and eventually GPS stuff.   Click here to see what we did last year.

Expect 2016 to serve up a 15 mile tour of the city on Wednesday night, a tough day of climbing (different than last year) on the Blue Ridge Parkway on Thursday and Saturday, and a requested return to the hills and valleys northwest of town, heading up to the town of Marshall. We will also offer “less hard” options Thur-Sat, for those who know what they are about on a bike.
