Route Planning Help, Beer City Bikes and SRAM

Beer City logoSRAM and Beer City Bikes

We have found a great home for our SRAM party on Friday night, and local (and legendary) Asheville bike shop Beer City Bikes!  It may be the perfect place in the universe – a place to shop and buy great bike gear, and to get a tasty pint of local brew while you hang out.  What could be better?  144 Biltmore Avenue (just a few doors down the hill from Barleys, where we will be on Thursday).  Very walkable from anywhere in downtown.

SRAM will be setting up around 4:30 or 5 PM and staying for a couple of hours to share the latest and greatest gear, components, and more.  Come check it out and enjoy a beer while there.  Should be a fantastic evening.

Finding Our Way on the Roads

We could use some help with navigating our way on the roads.  If you are in Asheville early and are willing to help us with some signage/chalk, come to the lobby of the Downtown Asheville Inn at 2 PM and we will put you to work.  If you can’t do that, please consider driving one of the routes (see maps page to print out) to get some level of familiarity with where we will be.  Thanks!

Parking in Asheville

Not staying at the host hotel?  Remember, there is no free parking in Asheville!  There is a cheap lot to park in 100 or so meters south of the hotel on Asheland Avenue that many people used last year.  You CANNOT park at our starting point (Aston Park), so don’t even try it.  Sometimes Hearn’s Cycling lets people park in their lot for $5/day or so.  There is some sort of donation box on the building with some instructions.  Don’t park there is you aren’t sure.

Downtown Asheville Inn and Bikes

Bikes are very welcome at the hotel, but you will find it makes it easier on everyone if you use only the new elevator on the west side of the building.  Unlike the one in the lobby, its plenty big enough to roll many bikes right in the door.  It works with your room key.

Shipping a Bike to Hearn’s Cycling

Did you ship your bike to Hearn’s?  They are open until 6 PM, so get there in plenty of time.  Might want to call them and let them know when you are coming to get your bike.  They were rushing to get everyone’s bikes out of the boxes and put together last year on Wednesday.  Don’t get surprised and miss a ride.
