Refueling

Asheville is one of the Southeast’s great restaurant towns, with dozens of really incredible eateries. All of these are within easy walking distance of MTMS headquarters.

Asheville Brewing and Pizzeria:   Good pizza, brews their own beers, lots of TVs. Good place for a large group. Located a couple of blocks down the hill from The Thirsty Monk on Coxe Avenue.
Barley’s Tap Room: Good place for a large group. Excellent pizza and bison burgers, 50+ local beers on tap, and beer, pool and darts upstairs. Can be crowded, though. 42 Biltmore, south of Pack Square.
Chai Pani: great Indian street food, if you are looking for some spiciness in your food. On Battery Park Avenue near Wall Street.
Chorizo (South American breakfast and lunch), located in the Grove Arcade.
Creperie Bouchan: A great place to grab something good after a ride. They do incredibly good crepes – both salty and sweet. Located at 62 Lexington Avenue, in a hidden courtyard back from the street. Definitely worth finding.  Roll your bike right into the courtyard and find a table.
Curate: a lively Spanish tapas bar.  Excellent food, interesting creations, but make sure you get a reservation.  On Broadway, near the Mast General Store.
Doc Chey’s Pan-Asian bistro:   Noodles of every kind and combination. Get a high carb dinner here (37 Biltmore), then wander down the hill for a beer adventure at Wicked Weed, Green Man, Twin Leaf, and Burial Brewing.
Early Girl Eatery: Some of the best and most dependable food anywhere in Asheville. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Mostly healthy versions of familiar comfort food.   Located on Wall Street.
Jack of the Wood: Can’t be more convenient, across the street from MTMS headquarters. In addition to the great beer selection and late-night music, the food is really good in this place. Great feng-shui, too. Be sure to check it out at some point mid-afternoon, before the evening crowds arrive.
Jeruselem Mediterranean: Located on Pritchard Park Triangle (at Patton and College), and serving a variety of falafels, baclavas, grape leaves, and other good stuff. Nice breakfast on Saturdays and Sundays, too.
Katmandhu Tibetan/Indian, on Patton next to The Thirsty Monk.
Laughing Seed Café: Possibly the best vegetarian fare in the Southeast. Definitely the most impressively broad menu. On cobbled Wall Street. There is a secret stairway connecting it with the also excellent Jack of the Wood.
Mayfel’s: Classic Southern comfort food at this long-time, much-loved Asheville establishment. Entrance is on Wall Street.
Mellow Mushroom Pizza and Calzones: Hippie pizza, good beer, and unbelievable decorations in this landmark. At Broadway and Walnut.
Salsa:   Caribbean/Latin burritos, paired with some of the most amazing salsa creations you have ever tasted. Small – get there early to avoid a wait, and bring an appetite for the large portions. On Patton, near Pack Square.
Tall Gary’s Cantina, at 4 College on Pritchard Park offers quality Mexican, just a block from MTMS headquarters.   Tacos, Mexican bar food, burgers and sandwiches, and a decent beer selection. Live music Tuesday through Saturday.
Tupelo Honey: Good comfort food, including a nice breakfast. Located on Pritchard Park triangle.
Thirsty Monk: If you are mainly focused on your beer, this place can handle that with excellence. They also have a nice selection of sandwiches and appetizers.   On Patton, one block from the MTMS headquarters hotel.
Wicked Weed Brewery and Restaurant, at 91 Biltmore offers salads, soups, burgers, sandwiches and pricey entrees (after 5 PM), along with the most sought-after beers in Asheville. Check the downstairs tasting room, too.
Food Trucks are located throughout Asheville, often next to the breweries.
