Maps, GPX files, Wednesday’s Ride and More!

More updates!

Please share these updates with others in your club!

Wednesday’s Welcome Ride has a new start time6:30 PM.  We received numerous requests from MTMS attendees who were going to have a little trouble making the original time.  Some were coming from as far away as California and Chicago, and asked for just a little more slack to get there.  We’ve done that.  BUT….wheels will be rolling at 6:30 PM sharp.  Get to Hearn’s Cycling early to get a map and be ready to roll.  If you get there a few minutes late, look for maps near the front entrance to the shop.

Maps and GPX files are up:  PDF maps of all of the primary rides are on the Rides Section of the site, as well as links to Map My Ride, where you Garmin folks can download a GPX file.  Please email David at velodave(at)mindspring.com if you encounter any problems with the links or the maps.  David knows nothing about GPX files, though – you are on your own with that.

Check-In, MTMS Kits and Caps:  Please be sure to check-in before riding.  4:30 – 6 PM on Wed, 8:30 – 9:30 on Thursday.  See the Schedule of Events.  We need to verify that you registered and paid, at which time you will get a bag with food and goodies for the week (2,000 calories of snacks/day).  If you registered early enough you can pick up your cap here, and your MTMS kit/jersey/bibs if you ordered one.

Welcome Party at One World Brewing:  Join others who get in on Wednesday at One World Brewing around 9:30 PM, accessed from the alley between Farm Burger and Salsas at 10 Patton Ave for some celebratory ales, renewed friendships, and a little carb loading for Thursday’s ride.

Lights!!!  OK, so it looks like rain on Saturday, but you should still bring your lights for the long ride option.  The National Park Service requires front and rear lights for the tunnels on this section of the Blue Ridge Parkway.  Some of them are long enough to be pitch black.
